Obtaining Medical Records in Georgia and Tennessee

In Georgia, OCGA 31-33-3 generally  allows for the release of medical records without charge for disability claims.  The statute is admittedly a little vague, and does not apply to mental health records.

In Tennessee, hospitals must provide indigent patients with a free copy of their records to pursue a Social Security Disability claim.  Otherwise, the provider can charge per TCA 68-11-304 and/or 63-2-102.

In Alabama, check out 12-21-6.1.
